VAL-DOR, Que. -- Anthony Mantha had two goals and an assist and Antoine Bibeau stopped 30 shots as the Val-dOr Foreurs toppled the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-2 on Tuesday in Game 3 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final. Anthony Richard had a goal and an assist for the Foreurs, who lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Maxime Gravel and Pierre-Maxime Poudrier tacked on a goal apiece. Felix Girard and Maxime St-Cyr supplied the scoring for the Drakkar, who led 2-1 midway through the second period before giving up four unanswered goals. Baie-Comeaus Philippe Cadorette turned away 24-of-28 shots in a losing cause. Val-dOr went 2 for 3 on the power play while the Drakkar failed to score on five chances with the man advantage. Alex Caldera, who started on the mound for Sioux City, earned the win as he kept the Goldeyes off the scoreboard through his six innings of work, only giving up two hits. "Yeah he pitched really well," said Goldeyes Pitching Coach Jamie Vermilyea on the Jewel 101 post-game show. "His fast ball was working and he took it to us." Matt Jackson, the Goldeyes starter, was able to sit down nine Explorers batters in order in the first three innings. He was charged with the loss though as he gave up the Explorers first four runs. "He kept us in this game," Vermilyea said about Jackson. "He unfortunately just got ambushed by Barrows." The Explorers Peter Barrows broke the two teams deadlock with a two-out two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. "Weve been hurting a lot on two out hits on this road trip," added Vermilyea. Reggie Abercrombie was one of the Goldeyes batters who got a hit, and with the single, Abercrombie extended his season high hitting streak to 13 games.
